At the most southern tip of Bali where it tapers off into a peninsula, this is where you will find Nusa Dua. The white sandy beaches stretch all along the cost and getting there is an easy 15 minutes drive from Bali International Airport. Nusa Dua competes with a few other areas in Bali for being the most prestigious holiday in Bali. The exquisite international hotels make it a popular destination for the more upper class tourist. This area has been very well developed and provides you with modern roads, and beautiful gardens that are very well maintained. There is no thoroughfare through Nusa Dua and as a result it is a very quiet place to visit without the massively crowded beaches that you will find in the more budget orientated resorts and spots.
One of the features that have helped make this such a popular holiday destination is the beaches that are a gorgeous blue and turquoise hue. There are no big waves and the scuba diving facilities are abundant as a result of this. There are only a few places that you can find to stay on a tight budget as most of the hotels are positioned on prime land overlooking the ocean and are definitely more expensive that areas such as South Kuta. Nusa Dua has been developed specifically to cater for the tourist that is looking for a peaceful relaxing time without the noise and mayhem associated with cheap areas full of young people. Therefore you can expect to pay significantly more for the privilege of not having to deal with crowded beaches and noisy teenagers.
At the very southeastern tip of the Island of Bali where the island tapers off into a peninsula is the prestigious Nusa Dua area. Nusa Dua is undoubtedly Bali’s premier top end resort area and it is not just the presence of the grand international hotels lining the tropical white sand beaches that are to thank for this Nusa Dua is unrivaled as a beach holiday spot. Nusa Dua is located only 15 minutes from the International airport and although it is the southernmost point it has amazing access to the rest of Bali.
The entire area has the feel of a well-established boulevard style location with excellent wide modern roads and beautifully kept gardens, which thanks also to the lack of through fare make for very pleasant tropical driving. The beaches here are white sand with turquoise/blue warm shallow lagoons offering excellent diving, snorkeling, safe swimming and a whole multitude of other sports.Due to the little thoroughfare of traffic down here the beaches are by no means crowded, a short drive north up the Benoa Peninsula reveals the same landscapes with less development and even less crowds.

Being that this is one of the most popular and up market resorts in Bali, it is imperative that you book your hotel or visa in advance. Going to Bali with the intention of staying here and finding that the hotels are fully booked will be very disappointing to say the least.
The holiday seasons in Bali are divided in to two different times of the year. Bali does not have four seasons, only two, the wet season and the dry season. The dry season runs from April to September with June to September being the busiest. Many tourists still come to visit bali in the wet season October to March, so booking in advance is still advisable. There is still tons of things that Bali has to offer during the wet season, as the temperature is always around 30°C. If coming during the wet season make sure that your hotel has air conditioning as it is very humid during these months.
Nusa Dua hotels generally all offer air conditioning, but just ask to make sure, there is nothing worse than the humidity at night if you are not accustomed to it.
When you book your holiday in advance, make sure that you receive confirmation, either through an email or by post. Mistakes happen and you want to ensure that you have been booked in to the room or villa at the precise dates. Prior to leaving for your holiday phone and double check that all arrangements are still in place, your room, if you are expecting to be picked up from the airport etc.
Even though Nusa Dua is considered as one of the more classy places to stay in Bali always try and book a room that is not on the ground floor of the hotel, obviously not a problem if you are renting a private villa. This way you are less likely to be disturbed by the noise of other tourists coming and going into the hotel lobby. The higher that you can be situated, the less you will hear.
Being a tourist in another country one always has to take care that you valuables are not lost or stolen. Nusa Dua is one of the safest places to stay in Bali as there are many security checks as you enter the area and as you enter the hotel. The hotels will offer you a safe service that you can store your valuables; take them up on the service. For a small amount of money you can be confident that you won’t have the problem of losing your passport or your money if you have exchanged a lot of currency.
If taking a day trip to explore the island it is advisable to bear a few things in mind. The more rural areas are not as accommodating when it comes to bathrooms, you may stumble upon some real horrors. Always carry a toilet roll with you as few rural toilets will provide any or hand soap, so take some of that with you as well.
There are thousands of temples that are dotted all over the island and a trip to Bali without visiting at least one would not be a complete trip to Bali. You would be missing out on a view into the culture and architecture of a wonderful culture. Two things you need to bear in mind when visiting the temples. Firstly you will be required to where a sarong when entering the temples and although they do offer them for rent at each temple, it is much easier to take your own therefore avoiding having to queue up especially if there is a large tour group.
You will find monkeys all over Bali, but especially around the temples as they tend to be more rural and the monkeys have become used to associating tourists with food. Even though people are advised not to feed them, it is difficult especially when you have children who insist on giving the poor monkey some food.
When you don’t feed them it is very common for them to grab anything that is hanging loose and running away with it, your jewelry handbag or glasses. Keep all loose items stored securely in a bag a hold it tight. If they do manage to grab something that is important, throw some food done and they will let go and will go after the food, just make sure that they are not sitting next to a cliff as your valuables could end up swimming in the sea. The temple guides are used to these monkeys and their mischievous ways, so you could give them a couple of dollars if this happens to you and they will retrieve your items.
When carrying cash keep a little bit in your pocket and use a money belt that sits under your clothes to carry the rest. If the worst happens then you may lose what is in your pocket but not the rest. This is also good when you buy something as it will look as though you only have a little bit of cash on you when you pull it out.
Just use some common sense when venturing out of your hotel or resort and you should be fine and enjoy your holiday without any major mishaps, just remember you are a tourist and could be the target of unscrupulous people.
