It is very difficult to distinguish between Kuta and Legian as they are situated very close together. As Kuta is probably the most popular tourist place to visit, Legian benefits from the amenities that are available in Kuta. With the infrastructure of Kuta being very tourist oriented it is natural that the facilities in Legian are very good for tourists as well. Legian hotels will be a little bit more expensive and it will be more difficult to find budget accommodation. Here are a few of the most common and trendy places to stay:

If you arrive by tour bus you will be dropped off in Kuta and catch a small shuttle bus to your hotel. With Kuta being such a popular destination, you will find that Legian is much quieter and peaceful.
The whole region of Kuta Bay, where Legian, Kuta, South Kuta are situated was once a thriving fishing community that has been transformed into a paradise holiday destination catering for every whim and desire that a tourist may want and not only competes with any top resort in the world, but surpasses many in the activities and level of service that you can expect.
Activities in Legian:
Even though Legian has its own facilities and amenities for activities like surfing and kayaking, there are some activities that you will have to travel to enjoy. For more experience surfers it is sometimes necessary to travel to find bigger waves and sometimes the waves in Legian are too big for inexperienced surfers. It is unfortunate, but many people drown every year as the swell can get very big and some people tend to go swimming after drinking too much alcohol. Diving is one of the greatest attractions in Bali, but because of the size of the waves and swells around Legian you will have to book an excursion with one of the many dive shops situated there and they will take you to the east or north coast where the best diving spots are. There are many other activities to enjoy that are only a short bus ride away to nearby Kuta, 10-15 minutes drive.
WaterBom Park
One of the most exciting water parks to be found anywhere is the world famous WaterBom Park that covers an area of 4 hectares. This is a great way to spend the day and keep the will keep the kids of all ages entertained for hours. This park is known for its strict safety codes and is kept up to international standards through a rigorous maintenance regime.
Bali Slingshot
How about being shot 52 meters into the air at 5 G’s? Bali Slingshot is the place for you to visit, but is not for the fainthearted. Built and managed by an Australian concern, you can be sure that it is safe and that it will terrify you and get your heart racing. Even though the whole thing only lasts about 1 second, it is an absolutely awesome experience.
For the more adventurous and free spirited tourist there is the chance to rent your own vehicle to explore the island. If you are looking to rent a car, make sure that it is in the dry season as some of the more rural roads are nothing but dirt roads and it is easy to get stuck in the mud, even 4X4’s are tricky to navigate through some of the terrain unless you are very experienced. Another option is to rent a motorcycle. Whichever one you choose, be very cautious as the rules of the road tend to be ignored. Before hiring make sure your vehicle is in proper working order, drive your vehicle up and down for a while before handing over your money. To hire a car you can visit Kuta car rental l or Amerthands if you prefer traveling by motor cycle.
Planning a trip to Bali is just like planning any other holiday, being prepared is the key to enjoying your holiday. October to March is the off peak season and the hotels and resorts are fairly quiet, although it is still a good idea to check. The height of the holiday season is April to September, and is exceptionally busy from June.
Most of the good hotels are fully booked during peak season and it is important that to avoid disappointment that you book in advance. This is easy enough to do through the internet and the hotels that are available here all allow you book in advance. When booking hotels in Legian make sure that you read the small print, all hotels have generally the same terms and conditions, but read everything to be sure. The major things that you need to be aware of are the rate increases terms and the room transfer conditions.
Prices go up every year all over the world and Bali is no exception, so depending on how early you book your hotels room, you may incur an extra charge by the time you go on holiday. When you initially book your holiday ask them with regards this and they will probably tell you that the rate will stay the same. If this does happen then try to get hold of the manager and explain that you were promised the rate that you paid when you booked and you should be given a refund or some free meals to compensate you. Sometimes you will not be able to argue your way out of it and will end up having to pay the extra charge; you need to decide if this small amount is worth having to look for alternative accommodation or just paying it and getting on with enjoying your holiday.
Book a room that is not on the ground floor if you are staying in a hotel as opposed to a private villa; try to get the highest floor possible. This will eliminate the noise of the other tourists wandering in and out of the hotel lobby and will prevent the street noise from disturbing you when you are trying to relax. Insist at the time of booking that this is the room you want and you don’t want to be moved to any other, it is all in the small print. Some hotels can move you around without letting you know.
Your bags are checked in and you are just about to take off and head to paradise for two weeks, your heart is racing with excitement with the prospect of starting your holiday, this is the time to think about a few things before arriving. You are in tourist mode now, and even though you don’t want to lose that feeling you need to take care of a few things.
Before you left, you should have bought a money belt, not one that hangs in front, but one that sits under your shirt. Bali is a hot climate and the clothes you are wearing will be loose fitting so the belt will not be noticed. Keep enough money in your pocket that you need for the trip, but keep the rest safe.
When you arrive at your hotel ask them if they have a safe that you can put your valuables in, if they do use the service. Most mid range to top class Legian hotels will have safe keeping services. Put your expensive jewelry, passports and extra cash in their. Two things that you need to make sure you don’t lose on your holiday are your passport, very important, and your credit cards. Leaving valuables lying around your hotel room or villa is a bad idea; they can go missing very quickly. It is not that the staff are dishonest, it is just the temptation may be too much for them. Don’t forget Legian hotel workers are paid very little compared to developed countries, some will only be paid a few dollars for an entire day and a wad of dollars may be a years’ salary and irresistible to them. Proving who took it could be impossible and even if you do find the culprit chances are you find your money.
