Even though there is still the presence of local fisherman staying here, Jimbaran Bay budget accommodation is sparse and is more tailored to the up market tourist, with the more expensive resorts offering private
swimming pools, and as you travel a little more south or north, private beaches. All hotels are beautifully landscaped with tropical gardens that are extremely well kept and presented. Bali has always created hotels and villas that have exceptional views and incredible services and Jimbaran resorts provide all that can be expected from quality Balinese hospitality.
Jimbaran is situated in the south not far from Bali international airport. Although this is a very popular holiday destination it has not become as commercial as the other places in Bali. Most of the seaside resorts that have sprung up along the coast of Bali were small fishing villages at some time, that have transformed into large commercial tourist attractions. All of these resorts have left behind the fishing history and concentrate totally on tourism as a source of income.
Staying in one of the Jimbaran Bay hotels is a unique experience  as the village, although geared towards tourism, has still kept its fishing industry and it is common to see the fisherman on the beach with their traditional fishing boats and nets. The village itself is also a mixture of the old and the new. Most of the other places to stay in Bali have a beach lined with restaurants, bars, clubs and shops that are 100 % for the use of tourists. Jimbaran is a wonderful place to stay as the main strip is still suggestive of an Indonesian town that has not been commercialized by the tourist industry. Walking along here you will find food stall and other facilities that are primarily used by the local Balinese fishing community. Some of the most popular and up market places to stay in Jimbaran are:

Being a little off the beaten path and not offering so many facilities, if you are looking to stay in Jimbaran any time of the year it is not that difficult to find accommodation. Many people prefer just to land at the airport and then find somewhere to stay. This is always exciting if you are young or an adventurous couple, but for those tourists with families and those who prefer luxurious accommodation it is always best to book your holiday in advance.

At the peak of the holiday season, no matter which resort or hotel you are going to stay at, the top hotels will generally be fully booked many months in advance. The busiest season in Bali is June to September so if you are travelling in these months then you really need to book in advance to ensure you have the type of place you want to stay as well as the area. Places like Kuta are generally occupied by the younger budget seeking tourist and any other place that offers a more relaxed quiet surrounding can be difficult to find accommodation if you don’t book in advance.

All top hotels offer online booking and will accept booking in excess of one year in advance. The only thing you need to make sure of when booking so far in advance is that you receive a confirmation email and check your booking before you leave on holiday to make sure that nothing has changed. No matter which type of hotel that you are staying in always try secure a room near the top of the building, other tourists coming and going and street noise will be far less and you will not be unnecessarily disturbed.

Once you have arrived in Bali and have settled in your hotel or resort, make sure that you put your valuables, jewelry, passport and extra credit card(always get an extra card from your bank when traveling on holiday) in the hotel or villas safe. This way you will not have the problem of having these stolen or lost as this can be absolutely disastrous when on holiday.

Staying in the resorts and hotel compounds is safe when holidaying in Jimbaran, it is when you travel out on your own that you need to be more cautious. Avoid being distracted when using an ATM machine and keep loose change in your pocket to buy small things, never pull out large amounts of money in front of people.
